All Grades

I try to use Thursdays (though not always) to reflect on the Gospel for the upcoming Sunday. Hopefully you and your student can get to Mass and when hearing the Gospel, they will have some idea of what it means. We may reflect on the setting, some history and certainly what the message is Jesus is conveying to us. There is usually a worksheet or activity of some kind to help us in our reflection. They can also see how the sermon given by the priest mirrors what we talk about in class (or not).

So, today we reflected on Lk 14:25-33, Jesus talking about the demands of discipleship. It is not easy. It begins with God being number 1 in our lives…. always……before money, sports, “sleeping in”, before video games, cell phones, iPads, before parents, siblings, children and yes, even our own lives. Jesus uses a couple of parables to help us better understand what discipleship means.
